Memory Match overview
Memory Match uses a shuffled 16-card deck containing eight symbol pairs. Reveal two cards at a time, remember their locations, and clear the board with the lowest possible move count.
Controls and modes
Click or tap cards to turn them over. The timer begins with the first flip, every two-card attempt counts as one move, and Shuffle New Deck starts a fresh solo game.
Strategy tips
- Use early turns to map unfamiliar cards instead of repeatedly guessing the same positions.
- When a revealed symbol matches one you remember, complete that pair immediately.
- Scan the board in a consistent order so locations are easier to recall.
- Move count matters more than speed for the saved best, so pause and think before the second flip.
Worked example: Turn remembered locations into fewer moves
There are eight pairs on the 16-card board. Think of positions as row and column coordinates to keep similar-looking places distinct.
- Suppose one turn reveals a star at row 1, column 2 and a different symbol at row 3, column 4. That mismatch costs one move.
- If a later first flip reveals another star, choose row 1, column 2 for your second flip rather than testing an unknown card.
- Clearing eight pairs with three mismatches takes 11 moves: eight successful pair attempts plus three unsuccessful attempts. Individual card flips are not counted as separate moves.
The saved record rewards fewer completed moves, not a faster timer. After Shuffle New Deck, discard your old position map because the cards have been rearranged.
